Marco Schifano
Marco Schifano is an Italian artist that currently lives and works in Rome. Since childhood, his “toys” have been film and photo-cameras, with which he grows up experimenting with his own communicative ability. He practices “machine editing” to obtain films where he merges his research on meaning and rhythm: many hours of footage and a large number of shots to arrive at his own aesthetic representation of the world. His most recent photographic work is based on a complex process involving a long preliminary search for elements that are coordinated, assembled, and then filmed to give rise to highly formalized iconographies. At the same time, the still life is used to reread the pictorial tradition.
