Monday – Friday / 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Liminal Space is the photographic project of Marina Sersale: an anthology of images captured in the streets of her hometown, Rome, and in the places she has visited around the world.

On the occasion of the presentation of the photography book of the same name, published by GOST Books, the gallery hosts an exhibition featuring a selection of the monochromatic photographs included in the volume.

Fragments of beauty that preserve moments to be contemplated, inviting viewers to enter the artist’s universe through a discreet and profoundly human gaze.

With Liminal Space, Sersale constructs an intimate narrative composed of seascapes and urban landscapes, portraits, and scenes of everyday life. Each photograph reveals an essential and mature visual language, a refined perspective capable of suspending time and giving shape to a visual exploration of the threshold between light and shadow, reality and imagination.

Sersale returned to photography in December 2012, developing a practice that has become a meditative inquiry into everyday reality: each image serves as a tool for observation and connection, transforming the ordinary into a profound perceptual experience.

“Images have always fascinated me. I grew up in Rome, where beauty is part of everyday life, and this is where my passion for photography began. This body of work explores the threshold between reality and perception: I am drawn to those moments when the familiar becomes uncertain, when the boundary between the visible and the imagined dissolves, allowing a fleeting sense of intimacy to emerge between myself and my subjects,” says Sersale, reflecting on the photographs that make up Liminal Space.

Rome, Positano, Venice, and New York become suspended settings in which reality seems to hold its breath. Light and shadow engage in a silent dialogue, freezing time within a liminal space inhabited by figures in transit, in a dimension that appears to transcend both time and reality.

Marina Sersale’s photobook Liminal Space and the exhibition of the same name will be on view at the gallery from 18 June to 17 July 2026.
